Language Weaver Ships Version 4.3, Adds Improved Functionality for Localization Service Providers and Offers Additional Asian Languages in Newest Version of Automated Translation Software
LOS ANGELES – May 31, 2007– Language Weaver, a leading software company developing enterprise software for the automated translation of human languages, today announced the latest version of its automated translation software, version 4.3. This version provides better functionality for translators, localization service providers and IT administrators of the translation workflow process. In addition, the company is introducing an expanded list of Asian languages, including Korean and traditional Chinese, with Japanese soon to follow.
New and Improved Functionality for Translation Workflow
To meet the needs of translation and localization service providers by increasing ease of usage and workflow productivity, Language Weaver has added the following features:
- Open Office – The Open Document Filter (ODF) allows users to translate Microsoft Office or Open Office formatted documents, while retaining the formatting at the output
- TMX input – Translation Memory eXchange format is a vendor neutral open xml standard that was developed by the translation and localization industry. TMX input has been added to the existing capability of TMX output.
- Improved formatting of TMX output in common gateway interface (CGI) and desktop applications, allowing for a side-by-side review
- XLIFF input and output – another standard used by translators, XLIFF allows translations to be easily input, uploaded to translation memory software, post-edited, or edited and added back to the
- Language Weaver software for training
- Simplified and more flexible virtual directory architecture for URLs for translation and customizer server CGIs.
The major benefit of the new features is flexibility. Users can start with a document in a rigid format, such as PDF, a Microsoft Office application or any of the hundreds of file types handled by Stellent, then translate the content and receive the output in a format that is open, widely-used and industry-standard, with many supporting tools, simply by choosing the TMX or XLIFF output. For translators and localization service providers, this provides many more options for content usable in a workflow process.
New Languages
Simultaneously, Language Weaver is introducing two new bidirectional language pairs: Korean <> English and Traditional Chinese <> English. Language Weaver already offers Simplified Chinese, Hindi and soon will add Japanese to its language modules, creating a full catalog of Asian languages.

SMTS v4.3 runs on Microsoft Windows 2000, 2003 and XP, including x64 editions, and supports all Language Weaver language pair modules.
